Hows this for an idea.
I am a new Iroquois owner having bought ‘Catcracker’, a mk 2 No 292. She was in a terrible state when I bought her having been laid up from 2004 and being part way through a refit ( mainly destruction, very little reconstruction).
I have a complete set of Iroquois windows as I have replaced them with the all black ‘wraparound’ look in tinted acrylic. Could anyone make use of any or all of the now redundant windows? I was left a rollof sealing rubber to refurbish them and this is also available.
With this in mind I would like to sugest that we have a “Spare Parts and accessories” or “I’ll swap you mine for yours” or even “For sale or wanted” section which could supply otherwise unavailable specific Iroquois parts to those owners who need them.
What do you think?
Is this a good idea?
I would also like to make contact with other owners who are completely refurbishing their boats. I have heard that Bob Smith is refurbishing ‘Antares of Ashton’ at Portchester; are there any others who are in this ‘Happy state’ and if so are you willing to start a discussion group on how to convert your current boat to the ‘Ideal’ boat of your dreams?
I am based in the Solent but not sailing the Iroquois yet though because its not ready. Are there any kindred spirits out there who are in a similar state and willing to share ideas? I can tell you how to fit ‘wraparound windows! if this helps!
I have the intention of organising a second Iroquois Rally in the solent early next year if anyone is interested. Please let me have your feelings on this.
