Carolina-Castaway

I am in the research stages of buying a boat and the Iroquois got my attention because of the nature of the North Carolina coastline where we would be doing most of our sailing….at least until our two boys get a little older.  The North Carolina Coastline could best be described as looking as if it has been blasted with a shotgun. Lots of inlets, extensive outer banks, small rivers, and shoaling shoaling shoaling everywhere. We have two young boys who are mostly going to enjoy exploring these inlets, and creeks, and rivers, as well as the outer banks etc. I hate the idea of having to always find an “official” place to tie up:)  The idea of being able to park the boat in two feet of water in some secluded creek or inlet and then hop off and “walk” barefoot to shore is very much appealing to us. I have heard the Iroquois can be parked in 18 inches of water, with the boards up, but I am just not sure if this is true or not?  I have also heard the iroquois can be beached? Can anyone tell me if this is true? And if so what all has to be pulled up before entering such shallow water, or for that matter when beaching it. I guess I’m just not sure whats underneath the boat as opposed to what’s underneath a standard monohull. Sorry if I come across as sounding ignorant but I know very little about cat boats.

Any input would be much appreciated. Thank you kindly in advance Cool
