Hi Iroquois Owners,

I’ve got the Iroquois bug and am in search of an Iroquois
owner that might be considering parting with their beloved catamaran. It seems
that the only ones for sell recently in the U.S. are on the East Coast or Hawaii. Would
prefer to find one on the West Coast, but would consider as far east as Texas or
above. I am finding out that Wide Load transport costs an arm and a leg! Your
boat can be turnkey or if in need of work, that is ok (probably my prefernce so
I can put my own mark on her). You can post here on send me an email directly:

toddbrsd@socal.rr.com

I only know of 2 on the West Coast, (“Zen 2? in Alameda and “Martes” in Marina
Del Rey). I am in Orange County, CA.

Thanks

Todd

Over recent weeks much of this websites software has been updated. The latest one being the ‘theme’ software (4 days ago). I think that I’ve covered all angles and tested everything – however sometimes things slip through.

If anyone finds a problem, please let me know (via Comments at the bottom of this Post) and I’ll do my best to rectify it.

Thanks, Peter Humby.

Members can now email each other via this website, a form of personal messaging. I have added this feature for the sake of completeness, making sure I haven’t left anything off the ‘wish list’. This facility is available after members have logged in.

Members Registration

May 292011

The Join Us form has been updated, ready to accept both New and Current members.

Martin Corrick and I decided to adopt this ‘form based’ system of registration, at least to begin with. It means that only IOA Members will have access to the Blog and Forum.

One disadvantage is that being a manual process, a prospective member will not know immediately if their desired user name is available. Hopefully this will not cause too many problems.

The alternative is to allow anyone to register on the site directly, member or not. This can be implemented in the future if required.

Peter Humby, Webmaster.

Menu system

May 262011

A new menu system has been implemented in order to simplify site navigation. This required some changes to the overall layout including the header area.

Search has been moved to the left sidebar.

The main Pages are listed along the top, just below the header area.

‘Links’ moved from the sidebar to a new Links page.

A Blog Page lists all of the Posts (most recent first).

Post categories have been renamed Topics and still appear in the left sidebar.

News and Events Page renamed to Event Diary in Topics.

Site progress and Webmaster combined and renamed Site News in Topics.

Some wording shortened for the horizontal menu.

It has become necessary to provide an update on site progress.

The new Forum was completed approx one week ago.

The Posts facility was completed one month ago.

Both of these facilities reflect the interactive nature of the site. They will be made available as soon as the Membership Registration process has been completed (along with instructions).

In the meantime the Forum is hidden from view to avoid any confusion. If anyone is interested in seeing the Forum, please send a message to the Webmaster (via the Contact page) who will provide viewing instructions.

Archive material such as past newsletters will be added as soon as possible.
Please refer to the Archive Material page for more information.

It has been replaced by a plain ‘pale turquoise’ background.

The current Iroquois boat graphic is more suited to a pale plain background. This may change in the future if a more suitable background image and/or graphic is selected.

The line spacing for the text has been increased to better define the heading and tag lines.

The theme body has been reset to the default colour values.

2) IOA blog has been removed from the Pages menu. Entries are now selected via the Blog Categories

Netservers www.iroquois.org.uk forwarded to www.iroquois-owners.org.uk. Note, it is not possible to configure Nameservers online. Netservers require an email request to do this. This is not urgent.

WordPress site www.iroquois-owners.org.uk enabled on WebHostUK using the Suffusion theme (Atahaulpa disabled). The header graphic is currently a gradient version. A custom graphic will be implemented in due course.

Still evaluating Forum software.

10/04/2011

The new WordPress based website is progressing ‘behind the scenes’ – however the live site will not be available for viewing over the next few days. This is because of a theme compatibility issue. A decision will be made within the next 48hrs on whether to stay with the current Atahaulpa theme or move to an alternative called Suffusion.

Although the Atahaulpa designers have identified a resolution to the problem, I am not happy with the nature of the fix at present – it relies on changing some web host settings. An earlier version of Atahaulpa still works fine, but this may not be the case with future releases of WordPress.

A theme mostly governs the overall aesthetics and layout of the site – not things like custom graphics and content. Therefore site development is largely unaffected. As soon as the theme situation is resolved I will be happy to make the site viewable.

Domain Names:
Currently iroquois-owners.org.uk is active. However,iroquois.org.uk will also point to the site as soon as nameserver configuration is complete.
